about yenia

Yenia is VP of Global Communications & Brand at kununu, the leading employer rating platform in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Originally from Spain, she has also lived in Peru, attended university in the US and later moved to Germany to start her professional career. Yenia's main focus the first years was on communications in the tourism sector, starting as a trainee in a PR agency and becoming the PR director later on. She then switched to in-house running external comms for Starbucks Germany for 2 years before moving to Amsterdam and running comms for Starbucks EMEA. The international part of the job tickled her interest in cross-cultural communications, which is why she joined Netflix at a time when the streaming giant was basically a startup in EMEA. In her first role she ran comms for DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) as well as for Iberia (Spain and Portugal). After a short maternity break, Yenia joined the international expansion team and launched Netflix in several other countries (i.e. Poland, South Africa, Israel, Romania, Greece, etc) as well as running comms for Scandinavia and Benelux.

After 3 years at Netflix, Yenia switched to the e-scooter service provider Bird, launching the service in several European countries as well as running the communications at a local level.

Since 2019 she is based in Vienna and is part of the kununu leadership team. This role catapulted her into a challenging but very rewarding leadership position, where she had to build a team from scratch and expand the areas of expertise as kununu continues writing its success story.

Yenia is married and she and her wife have two kids (8 and 6 years old). She loves traveling, learning languages and baking, as well as empowering other women to dare more, climb more, demand more and receive more.
